Description
Apollospace is pleased to offer a collection of Apollo 9 vintage event covers which have been affixed with a remnant piece of Apollo 9 flown Kapton foil that was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 9 Lunar Module, “Spider,” and was flown in space from March 3-13, 1969. The Kapton from which the attached remnants were cut was originally auctioned by Heritage Auctions from the personal collection of Apollo 9 Astronaut Rusty Schweickart (documents provided).
Each Apollo 9 event cover (commemorating a stamp issue) has been carefully selected for quality and condition. The flown kapton foil has been affixed to the front of the cover within a 1-inch stamp. On the reverse, each cover is assigned a unique series number. Each cover is accompanied by an item specific Letter of Authenticity fully describing the provenance of the flown kapton foil.
Approximately .25 inch square piece of flown Apollo 9 kapton foil attached with archival glue to cover #28/50. Series A9-2.
