APOLLOSPACE is pleased to present Apollo 11 Buzz Aldrin hand-signed covers, limited to an edition of 11 (A11-SE #1), affixed with a remnant piece of Apollo 11 flown Kapton Foil that was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia,” and was flown in space to the moon from July 16-24, 1969. The Kapton from which each of the attached remnants was cut was originally from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying letter of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of “The Right Stuff Space”) and subsequently purchased by APOLLOSPACE.
The Kapton foil originally consisted of six (6) remnants, as seen in the first image below. The 3 smaller pieces marked as Remnants 1-3 in the image were cut and separated into 11 remnants with each measuring a minimum of approximately ¼- inch long, as seen in second image, which were then attached to 11 Buzz Aldrin signed vintage Apollo 11 event or First Day covers, marked as Nos. 1- 11 (A11-SE #1). The remnant Kapton Foil pieces affixed to the signed covers are one of the 11 rectangular pieces seen in the second image.
Each of the eleven covers from this Series is accompanied by an APOLLOSPACE Letter of Authenticity and copies of documentation showing provenance.
