Apollo 13 Fred Haise Signed Flown Kapton Foil Covers

APOLLOSPACE is pleased to offer a collection of Apollo event covers which have been affixed with a remnant piece of Kapton foil that was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 13 command module “Odyssey,” and was flown in space to the moon from April 11-17, 1970. The Kapton from which the attached remnants were cut was originally from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying images and documentation, including letter of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of “The Right Stuff”) and subsequently purchased by APOLLOSPACE.
The Kapton foil originally consisted of ten remnants, some quite charred from re-entry, as seen in the first image below. The two longer strips highlighted in the second image were then cut into 12 rectangular pieces (third image) with each measuring approximately ½ inch at widest, which were then attached to 12 Fred Haise signed vintage Apollo 13 event covers, marked as Nos. 1- 12 SE #2 (Signed Edition #2).
The signed Apollo 13 flown Kapton foil covers are marked on the reverse and come with an APOLLOSPACE Letter of Authenticity fully describing the provenance of the Kapton foil.
