Description
This large remnant of Apollo 13 flown Kapton foil, Remnant GA2-B, was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 13 Command Module, “Odyssey,” and was flown in space to the Moon from April 11-17, 1970. This flown Kapton foil remnant was originally auctioned by Goldberg Auctions from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying letter of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of “Goldberg Auctions”) and subsequently purchased by APOLLOSPACE.
The Kapton foil originally consisted of a very large multi-layered remnant, as seen in the first image below. These layers/remnants were separated leaving the remnants appearing in Image #2 and marked as Remnants GA2 1-3 and A-F.
Apollo 13 Flown Kapton Foil REMNANT GA2-B measures approximately 3.75 x .75 inches and is authentic in all respects.
