Description
This large remnant of Apollo 13 flown Kapton foil, Remnant GA4-A, was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 13 Command Module, “Odyssey,” and was flown in space to the Moon from April 11-17, 1970. This flown Kapton foil remnant was originally auctioned by Goldberg Auctions from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying letter of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of “Goldberg Auctions”) and subsequently purchased by APOLLOSPACE.
The Kapton foil originally consisted of two large remnants, as seen in the first image below marked as Remnants GA4-A and GA4-B.
