Description
This large remnant of Apollo 11 flown Kapton foil, Remnant RS1-C, was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia,” and was flown in space to the Moon from July 16-24, 1969. The Kapton from which the attached remnant was cut was originally from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying letter of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of “The Right Stuff Space”) and subsequently purchased by APOLLOSPACE.
The Kapton foil originally consisted of six (6) remnants which were purchased by APOLLOSPACE and marked as Remnants 1-3 and A through C as pictured in the image above.
