Description
This large remnant of Apollo 11 flown Kapton foil, A11-KaptonFoil-HA-50254-D1, was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia,” and was flown in space to the Moon from July 16-24, 1969. This flown Kapton foil remnant was originally part of a larger, multi-layered remnant auctioned by Goldberg Auction from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying images). The remnant was subsequently sold by Heritage Auction and purchased by APOLLOSPACE and the remnant layers separated as pictured in the gallery images.
