Description
This large remnant of Apollo 13 flown Kapton foil, Remnant E (lot UA141A), was originally part of the protective insulation of the Apollo 13 Command Module, “Odyssey,” and was flown in space to the Moon from April 11-17, 1970. This flown Kapton foil remnant was originally auctioned by University Archives from the personal collection of NASA Production Control Engineer William Whipkey (see accompanying images) and included multiple remnants which were purchased by APOLLOSPACE and marked as Remnants A through E as pictured in the gallery images. This large-sized Apollo 13 flown Kapton foil remnant, Remnant E, measures approximately 3.25x.5 inches in size. Curled at edges and charged toning from heat of re-entry.
